Case Study: Conservation in Thailand, Asia By working with a conservation charity in Asia, Healthy Planet raised funds for the following project completed in May 2008 and connected donors to conservation. In 2009, we are continuing to support this region with related work that improves sustainability further. Supporting Community Forestry in Ratchaburi, Thailand The Plant-A-Tree-Today (PATT) Foundation is a UK registered charity with various projects around Asia including Thailand. This park is in area protected by Thailand’s Royal Forestry Department. Raising money for this park means PATT can work more closely with local organisations and communities to enhance their work and totally transform the area. The area within Ratchaburi, although protected, had only a small amount of its original vegetation left and was covered with weeds when work started. The goals included: • Regenerate a degraded area with native trees and secure the remaining topsoil• Rebuild a natural forest by planting trees suitable to the local area• Restore biodiversity to the immediate area by providing a habitat for native animals• Work with the communities in these activities, for an improved quality of life.• Provide a meaningful, fun and rewarding opportunity for participants to give back to the environment by volunteering their time to plant trees. This way your financial support goes further still. The volunteers feedback so far has been: “This was a very rewarding activity, but also improved the quality of community life and created a great site for schools and communities in the long-term.” Find more details on this completed project at PATT's project page> Learn more and support our current projects> How to Adopt Video (2 mins)> To adopt in any park including our current priority parks: Adopt Land> Back to Priority Parks
