Sagarmatha National Park , Nepal

Situation:

At 9,700 feet, Sagarmatha is the highest national park in the world. Located in eastern Nepal amidst the Himalayas, it contains the highest mountain in the world, Everest, within its boundaries. Due to its height, the majority of the park is made up of rough and rugged mountain terrain, cut through by huge rivers and glaciers. Significantly though, it’s one of the last strongholds of the critically endangered snow leopard. Victims of poaching and habitat erosion, there are estimated to be only 4,000 to 7,000 of these magnificent animals left in the world today.

Goals:

Adopt a plot in Sagarmatha National Park and help pay for a variety of community based snow leopard conservation efforts. For example, vaccinations for livestock so that local herder’s livestock can be preserved by other means other than resorting to killing predatory animals.
