Grant Shapps Praises Welwyn Garden City Books For Free scheme!

Healthy Planet has recently opened our 32nd Books For Free Hub in Welwyn Garden City centre which has been praised by Grant Shapps, MP for Welwyn and Hatfield and co-chair of the Conservative Party.

Shapps commented "This is a really imaginative use of space that would otherwise have been left empty. Not only does it save thousands of books that would otherwise be landfilled or pulped and which people can now read, but it provides the community with a place where residents of all ages can gather. Healthy Planet, the local council and the landlord of the premises are to be congratulated on making this happen."

So far Healthy Planet has helped rescue 2 million books from landfill or pulping since launching the Books For Free initiative 2 years ago. We hope that together we can help save the environment and help people from all age groups and backgrounds to read and get involved in their communities.
